Community Leaders Drive Sports Facility Upgrades Across Central Coast

New sports amenities at Buff Point and Halekulani Ovals opened for the 2025 winter season after the Central Coast Council replaced buildings that were 44 and 54 years old with $2.8 million in NSW Government funding.

These projects sit at the centre of efforts to keep community sport viable on the Central Coast. Older venues limited training time and match scheduling, while newer buildings allow clubs to run more sessions without weather-related cancellations. The timing aligns with steady demand for fields that can handle both winter codes and year-round programs.

Facility work across multiple sites

Work continues at Frost Reserve in Kincumber on a 370-square-metre amenities building due for completion by early 2026. At Niagara Park Stadium a separate $2.8 million upgrade is scheduled to finish on October 15, adding accessible change rooms ahead of regional and state events. An $11 million NSW Government program is also delivering lighting, drainage and irrigation at 16 sportsgrounds to extend usable hours and reduce ground closures.

Central Coast Sports College marked its own milestone on July 15 2025 with the appointment of a new principal and wins in both the boys and girls CIS Cup soccer grand finals. Those results followed the college’s launch of a full-time pathway program with the Central Coast Mariners for female players.
